Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon opens again 1st of June

Tomorrow, June 1.,  the Environment Agency will reopen the nature conservation areas Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon and Skógaheiði at Skógafoss. The Agency requests all guests to walk only on designed paths and do not at any time step over fences or go into restricted areas that has sensitive vegetation or wildlife.

It has been difficult for our rangers to hold the areas closed and sadly many people ignore the closures. The areas are very damaged because of much traffic, too much pressure on nature and lack of infrastructure to protect the vegetation. Help us to protect the nature and follow the rules at the nature conservation areas.
