From Coast To Mountains
We are a local family company that has been running trips in southeast Iceland since 1991.
Our Summer Special is the popular Ingólfshöfði Puffin Tour. This adventurous journey starts on a tractor drawn hay cart, traveling 6 km across the black sands flats of the southeast coast. Our destination is the isolated headland and nature reserve, Ingólfshöfði, a home of thousands nesting seabirds, including puffins and the great skuas.
The historical cape is named after the first settler of Iceland Ingólfur Arnarson, who spent his first winter in Iceland at the cape in 874 AD.
For booking and more information, visit www.puffintour.is
We also offer Ingólfshöfði Photo Tour, for serious photographers to photograph puffins in early morning couple of times a week in summer.
Our Winter special is without a doubt, the Ice Cave Tour.
Einar Rúnar Sigurðsson, owner and lead guide of FromCoastToMountains is the pioneer of the ice cave tours in Iceland and has found and named most of the famous ice caves in Vatnajökull glacier.
In the wintertime we organize trips to ice caves ranging from short visit to an easily accessible ice cave or ice tunnel during our Ice Cave Tour, to our two day Ice Cave SleepOver Tour to more remote ice cave.
For booking and more information, visit www.icecaving.is
FromCoastToMountains also organizes various trips in the Vatnajökull region, mostly for individuals and small parties. We offer solutions for people that want to experience the nature and glaciers of southeast Iceland with native mountain guides.
If you would like to know more about our different private or small group tours, please visit: www.fromcoasttomountains.com/our-tours
Our Latest Adventure is our newest product, Café Vatnajökull in Fagurhólsmýri, which our family opened in 2017. This former local grocery store was the heart of our community for almost 40 years, but was closed for a decade until we bought it and converted it to be the base of our operations.
Our Café is an adventure in it self. Here you can meet the locals, see and buy our family products, get fresh Icelandic coffee from and try some of Icelandic special treats. Don´t be a stranger and come to visit us and experience a special atmosphere in the beautiful surrounding of Vatnajökull.

We tailor our trips to make no harm to nature, and we promote practices that will keep our wilderness intact for future generations. Please help us keep trails open to riders by riding respectfully.
Our riding roots run deep, and our passion is to innovate and deliver a world-class adventure. At the end of the day, we just love to ride our bikes, and it shows.

Secret Iceland
Secret Iceland is licensed day tour provider authorized by the Icelandic tourist board since 2010. Founders of Secret Iceland are the brothers Trausti and Guðmann. They are born and raised in Vík í Mýrdal.
Let us reveal to you the hidden secrets of Lakagigar Craters.
Lakagigar is nestled deep in the Icelandic highlands between the glaciers Vatnajökull and Mýrdalsjökull . This is like entering another world like no other place on earth. Some have seen similarity with the land of Mordor in the epic adventure film Lord of the Rings based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien yet so beautiful and peaceful in the middle of the mountains and mossy green lava.
Don’t risk your precious rental car crossing rivers on the rough track to Laki. There is no insurance in the world that covers damage to your car when crossing rivers.
Crossing deep rivers and driving on rough mountain tracks are what the Icelandic Super Jeep was made for. The Super Jeep was born in Iceland. It’s a four-wheel drive, all-terrain vehicles equipped with massive suspension systems and tires ranging from 38″ to 46″ in size. Besides using enormous tires, these vehicles have reshaped bodies to house the larger wheels, extended suspension, and a special lift kit to increase the ride height.
Most Icelandic mountain tracks and roads (f roads) are just for larger 4x4 vehicles with experienced drivers. They are narrow little maintained tracks and there are rivers to cross and sharp rocks and pot holes hard to see on the way.
Let your expert local driver guide do the driving while he gives you informative comments about the history and geology of Lakagigar.
Among the places we visit in the tour is Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon, Fagrifoss waterfall, Tjarnargigur Crater and of course Lakagigar and the mountain Laki.
The tour begins in Kirkjubæklaustur, a southern town often nicknamed Klaustur by locals.
Many visitors to Iceland will find themselves in this historic location as they travel the South Coast; it is between the village of Vík Í Mýrdal and the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and is steeped in religious heritage.
Duration: 8-9 hours. Total stopping/hiking time: 5 hours Available from 10th June – 30th September
We look forward to meeting you.

Arnanes
Arnanes Country Hotel is a family-run company, established in May 1993 in our own home, located in Nesjahverfi, 1,5 km from Arnanes. In August 1993 we bought a part of the farm Arnanes (30 ha of land and 2 houses) and early spring 1994 we moved our home to Arnanes.
Our former home then became a guesthouse and still it is a part of our hotel with 5 rooms, a sitting room and living rooms, complimentary coffee and tea,TV and free internet access just like in all of our rooms.
1995 we renowated our house in Arnanes, starting with 4 rooms w. shared facilities on first floor with panoramic view to glaciers and mountains in Vatnajökull National Park.
In May 1996 we started our riding tours from Arnanes , 16 years later we are still going strong. The first 12 years I managed the riding tours myself but for the last 4 years my youngest son (23 years old) has been taking care of it.
In June 1997 we opened our restaurant in Arnanes with seats for 40 people. At the same time we built 3 bungalows here in Arnanes, each with 2 rooms with bath.
Since then we have not built any new houses but instead we have tried to keep everything in good shape.
From the start we have wanted our guests to get the feeling of a home away from home here in Arnanes. Sence of hospitality and friendliness, wanting to visit us again some time in future. Please contact for prices, tours and booking information.
