Specially equipped, modified jeeps are used for most tours and there is equipment to deal with most of what nature has to offer, both in winter and summer. At Brú we offer all kinds of tour that are suitable for both individuals and families Buggy tours in Þórsmörk are a unique way to enjoy Icelandic nature and include several waterfalls and gravel road driving. A stunning natural playground for the next few hours where you test your buggy skills is surrounded by the incredible scenery that only Iceland can offer. These two-seaters, 4×4 buggies are fully automatic, fully inspected, and road-legal. They are also full of great safety and design features, such as a roll cage, seat belts, and double A-arm front suspension. All of this makes for a car that is as safe and comfortable as a car. Snowmobiling on Eyjafjallajökull, While the south is certainly magnificent “from below”, there is nothing better than experiencing it “from above”! Let us reveal to you the hidden secrets of Lakagigar Craters.    Lakagigar is nestled deep in the Icelandic highlands between the glaciers Vatnajökull and Mýrdalsjökull . This is like entering another world like no other place on earth.  Some have seen similarity with the land of Mordor in the epic adventure film Lord of the Rings based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien yet so beautiful and peaceful in the middle of the mountains and mossy green lava. Don’t risk your precious rental car crossing rivers on the rough track to Laki.  There is no insurance in the world that covers damage to your car when crossing rivers.    Crossing deep rivers and driving on rough mountain tracks are what the Icelandic Super Jeep was made for.  The Super Jeep was born in Iceland.  It’s a four-wheel drive, all-terrain vehicles equipped with massive suspension systems and tires ranging from 38″ to 46″ in size.  Besides using enormous tires, these vehicles have reshaped bodies to house the larger wheels, extended suspension, and a special lift kit to increase the ride height.   Most Icelandic mountain tracks and roads (f roads) are just for larger 4x4 vehicles with experienced drivers.  They are narrow little maintained tracks and there are rivers to cross and sharp rocks and pot holes hard to see on the way.  Let your expert local driver guide do the driving while he gives you informative comments about the history and geology of Lakagigar.  Among the places we visit in the tour is Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon, Fagrifoss waterfall, Tjarnargigur Crater and of course Lakagigar and the mountain Laki.   The tour begins in Kirkjubæklaustur, a southern town often nicknamed Klaustur by locals.  Many visitors to Iceland will find themselves in this historic location as they travel the South Coast; it is between the village of Vík Í Mýrdal and the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and is steeped in religious heritage.  Duration: 8-9 hours.  Total stopping/hiking time: 5 hours Available from 10th June – 30th September   We look forward to meeting you.
