Tourism companies that are members of Visit South Iceland (VSI) cooperate with other members and municipalities to market and promote South Iceland as a prime tourism destination. The region spans from Thorlakshofn in the west to the city of Höfn in the east, covering approximately 500 km of coastline. Members are required to pay VSI annual fees. Only companies holding the necessary licenses for their operations, as mandated by Ferðamálastofa - The Icelandic Tourist Board, are eligible for membership.

We welcome all companies operating in South Iceland, whether directly or indirectly involved in tourism, to join us in our collaborative efforts.

We see significant value in joining VSI for all tourism-related businesses in the region. This cooperation strengthens relationships among companies and generates momentum when needed. Such collaboration is expected to amplify South Iceland's presence in tourism promotions, drawing more visitors and encouraging longer stays.

What is included in the membership?

Every member company is visible on the VSI website in their respective categories in Icelandic and English versions. In the registration, three photos are included, as well as text, a direct link to their website, social media, and ratings from Trip Advisor. It is also possible to have different texts and photos for each company's category.

VSI promotes South Iceland to travel agencies and others in tourism and directly to travelers. This is achieved mainly through our website, social media, email campaigns, newsletters, etc., depending on the marketing region. The website promotes special projects; specific domains connected to the main site are used for more significant projects. VSI promotes its members when attending travel trade shows and workshops, both domestically and abroad. We also cooperate with our members when hosting journalists, media, and travel agents.

Members of VSI can seek information and knowledge from the VSI staff for the marketing and promotion of their company. They also get invites and discounts to events such as seminars, workshops, conferences, and other events hosted by VSI.

VSI collaborates with Business Iceland, The Icelandic Tourist Board, The Icelandic Tourism Research Centre, and others who aim to strengthen tourism development and build a positive image of South Iceland. Regular meetings are scheduled with tourism representatives from the region, working with the municipalities. Members of VSI benefit from these collaborations and can look there for assistance in seeking out possible collaborators in the area, tourism representatives, and representatives from the municipalities and government.
