Welcome to the video corner of LÁ Art Museum, where the video work Moment of a Glacier is presented.

Moment of a Glacier  (2024) is a video work that focuses on glacial material from Sólheimajökull, examined through a microscope and placed in dialogue with the old Icelandic folk song Lóuvísur. The work offers a new perspective on glacial melting and draws the viewer into the inner life of the glacier—and all the matter and memories it carries with it. Within this microscopic world, both the beauty and fragility of the glacier are revealed, and the viewer becomes a witness to what is disappearing, moment by moment.

Alberte Parnuuna, Antonía Bergþórsdóttir, Íris María Leifsdóttir & Vikram Pradhan

The artists Antonía Bergþórsdóttir, Íris María Leifsdóttir, Vikram Pradhan, and Alberte Parnuuna explore glacial ice and glacial silt from Sólheimajökull using a microscope to uncover what lies hidden within the ice. Sermit | Glaciers is an interdisciplinary collaboration that sheds light on the effects of glacial melting and climate change. Since 2023, the group has travelled regularly between Greenland and Iceland.
