Haustgildi - menning er matarkista - which could be translated as Autumn festival - culture is food a plenty, is a festival held the first weekend of September in the village of Stokkseyri each year. It is a harvest festival that celebrates the harvest season of autumn with the goal of combining cultural activities with a village market atmosphere as culture is indeed food a plenty.
In 2024 we also celebrate the tenth anniversary of the book organization Bókabæirnir austanfjalls, book towns east of the mountain. Scottish author and respected bookseller Shaun Bythell, will be a special guest of the anniversary.
