Laugarvatn Fontana Reopens After Full Renovation

Laugarvatn Fontana, one of the Golden Circle's longest-running geothermal spas, has reopened following a complete renovation of its facilities. The venue sits directly on the Golden Circle route at Laugarvatn, making it a familiar and easy stop for operators already routing guests between Þingvellir and Geysir/Gullfoss.

The renovation covers the bath complex itself, where guests bathe in water heated by steam drawn directly from a natural geyser beneath the building, a point of difference from geothermal pools that draw on piped hot water. For trade partners, the reopening is a chance to refresh product information and imagery for an established stop that many itineraries already include.

One thing has not changed: the geothermal rye bread baking, a long-standing and consistently popular part of the visitor experience. Bread is baked in the ground using geyser heat, and guests can watch the process and taste it warm as part of a bakery tour, offered several times daily. For operators, it remains a strong, low-cost addition to a Golden Circle day tour, giving groups a hands-on cultural moment alongside the bathing experience.

With the renovation complete, Laugarvatn Fontana returns to full operation with both its bathing facilities and bakery tours running on their usual daily schedule, positioning it as a reliable, well-located stop for both independent travelers and group itineraries on the Golden Circle.
