Story Nights with Mr. Iceland
Efri‑Úlfsstaðir is a working farm, and visitors can combine rides across black‑sand beaches or private super‑jeep tours with overnight stays in cosy cabins.
This March the team is adding a new cultural experience: “Viking Story Night”. The evening event takes place in a candle‑lit barn at Efri‑Úlfsstaðir and is designed to bring the sagas to life. Guests are welcomed into the stable to meet the farm’s horses before gathering at a long wooden table to share small tastings of shark, dried fish and smoked lamb. Local storyteller Valdimar Flygenring then tells tales from Njál’s Saga and Icelandic folklore in English, encouraging visitors to experience Icelandic history “not as a spectator, but as a guest”. The session lasts about ninety minutes and begins at 20:00; bookings are limited to keep the atmosphere intimate.
For travel‑trade partners, Mr Iceland offers a compelling product mix that combines classic South‑Coast touring with authentic farm culture. Their new sögukvöld provide an evening alternative to Northern Lights hunts or Reykjavík nightlife, appealing to families and couples seeking a slower, more story‑driven experience. With easy access from Reykjavík and Hvolsvöllur, comfortable farm accommodations and year‑round operation, the farm makes a strong partner for winter and shoulder‑season itineraries that highlight the human stories behind Iceland’s landscapes.
