Designer Hrafnkell Birgisson presents new works at the LÁ Art Museum.
Hrafnkell works with objects and materials gathered from his immediate surroundings, transforming them into ready-made multiples with practical functions. His works serve as a reflection on contemporary consumer culture and offer a counterpoint to modern patterns of consumption, inviting viewers to consider the lifecycle of mass-produced objects, both in terms of their materials and their forms.
Hrafnkell studied Product Design at HBK Saar and the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin) in Germany. He has taught as a visiting lecturer for many years, both in Iceland and internationally. He currently lives and works in Helsinki.
Hrafnkell was an artist-in-residence in Varmahlíð at the invitation of the Municipality of Hveragerði. This pop-up exhibition is presented in collaboration with the municipality.
