Samtök ferðaþjónustunnar hafa að undanförnu aflað gagna um ferðaþjónustu frá Hagstofu Íslands og birt á vef sínum. Markaðsstofa Suðurlands hefur nýtt þessi gögn við að greina þróun og áhrif ferðaþjónustu á sunnlensk sveitarfélög. Sveitarfélög og framboð á Suðurlandi hafa fengið senda samantekt fyrir sitt sveitarfélag í von um að hún nýtist við stefnumótun og ákvarðanatöku í málefnum sem varða greinina.

Markaðsstofa Suðurlands veitir árlega viðurkenningar fyrir Sprota ársins og Framlag ársins í ferðaþjónustu á Suðurlandi. Á aðalfundi Markaðsstofu Suðurlands, sem var haldinn þann 7 maí s.l. á Stracta Hóteli á Hellu, voru þessar viðurkenningar veittar til fyrirtækja í greininni.

Rúmlega 178 milljónir til innviða á ferðamannastöðum á Suðurlandi

Fimm verkefni á Suðurlandi hlutu samtals 178.567.403 krónur úr Framkvæmdasjóði ferðamannastaða fyrir árið 2026. Úthlutunin er hluti af nær 490 milljóna króna styrkveitingu til 18 verkefna um land allt þar sem sérstök áhersla var lögð á öryggi ferðamanna á fjölsóttum ferðamannastöðum.
